The HASLMS School Library Media Awards program is designed to recognize and honor Library Media Specialists and Administrators for outstanding contributions to school library media programs in Hillsborough County Public Schools. All persons nominated will be recognized and the awardees will be announced during the annual HASLMS Banquet.

Media Specialist of the Year (Elementary, Middle & High School)
Rising Star Media Specialist
Administrator Advocate
Media Specialist of the Year (Elementary, Middle & High School)
- Exhibits outstanding attributes of school librarianship including empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
- Serves as an active member of leadership at their school site and/or district level.
- A full time employee of Hillsborough County Public Schools, is in third year of service or more as an elementary, middle school or high school media specialist, and is a member of HASLMS.
- Nominated library media specialists will be considered for each level they serve (elementary, middle and/or high).
Rising Star Media Specialist
- Is a media specialist in their first or second year of service as an elementary, middle or high school media specialist.
- Exhibits outstanding attributes of school librarianship including empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
- Is a full-time employee of Hillsborough County Public Schools, and a member of HASLMS.
Administrator Advocate
- Serves as an advocate for the school library media program in their school or at district level.
- Supports the operations of effective school library services
- A full time employee of Hillsborough County Public Schools as an elementary, middle school or high school site administrator or district administrator.
